I started this site because I could not understand why more people weren't doing this. There is a lever sitting in plain sight — free, immediate, requiring nothing you do not already own — and the trials keep coming back positive. Yet most of what is written about it is either an advert for an app or a shrug.
So the aim here is simple. Show you what the research actually found, translate it into a schedule you can start this week, and get out of the way. The evidence for this is genuinely exciting, and I see no reason to write about it as though it isn't.
What I am, and what I'm not
I'm a writer, not a clinician. I am not a doctor, a registered dietitian, or a nutritionist, and nothing here is reviewed by one.
I'd rather say that at the top than bury it. It's the reason every guide sends you to a clinician at the point where the answer depends on your own health, medication, or history — and the reason who should not fast is the page I'd ask you to read before any of the others. For a fair number of people the correct answer to "should I try this?" is no, and a website is not equipped to tell you which group you're in.
How I write these
Each guide is built from the trial literature on time-restricted eating and written to be acted on rather than studied. Every substantive claim ends in a numbered reference with a DOI, so you can go and check any of it in about thirty seconds.
I write with a point of view. I think the evidence for this is strong and the case for trying it is easy, and the guides say so. If you want a survey of every position ever taken on fasting, this is the wrong site — this one is here to get you started.
What this site doesn't do
- Sell anything. No products, no supplements, no coaching, no paid tier. There is nothing to buy here, which is why I can be this direct.
- Invent numbers. Every figure quoted comes from a published trial, cited by DOI, with the sample size and duration stated.
- Claim to treat or cure anything. Intermittent fasting is an eating pattern, not a therapy, and it is not a substitute for medication or medical care.
- Pretend it's for everyone. The safety page is linked from every other page and I would rather you read it first.
My read on the evidence. Fat loss without counting a calorie. Insulin sensitivity, blood pressure and oxidative stress improving in people who lost no weight at all. Trained lifters shedding fat while holding their strength. Repair genes measurably switching on overnight. That is what the randomised trials found, and it is why I think a fortnight of your time is a very cheap bet.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, I want to know. Corrections get made promptly and I'd rather be corrected than confident. Nutrition writing has a bad habit of treating a change of mind as a loss of face.
